Privacy Policy
What happens to your data when you visit noiseandgrit.com, write to us, buy software or use PatternBridge.
Last updated: 22 October 2026
In short
- The website itself sets no cookies and uses no analytics, advertising or tracking tools. It only stores in your browser whether you closed the sign-up window, so it is not shown again.
- Fonts, images and scripts are served from this website's own server. The website's code loads no content from third-party servers while you browse.
- Personal data is processed to deliver the website, to answer messages you send, to handle software licences and to provide update information for PatternBridge.
- If you sign up for release news, your e-mail address is sent to our mailing list provider Kit. Nothing is sent before you submit the form.
- Your music files are converted and edited locally. They are not uploaded automatically to us or to the licensing service. We receive selected files only if you choose to send them to support.
- Purchases are not yet possible. The sections on purchases and on PatternBridge describe the processing that applies once sales open.
Controller
The controller within the meaning of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is:

Hosting and server log files
This website is hosted by Porkbun LLC, USA (Porkbun privacy policy). Each time a page is requested, the hosting server automatically records technical access data in log files:
- IP address of the requesting device
- date and time of the request
- requested page or file and the HTTP status code
- amount of data transferred
- referring page, if transmitted by your browser
- browser type and version, operating system
This data is processed to deliver the website, to keep it stable and secure, and to detect and defend against misuse. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in a secure and working website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). The log data is not combined with other data sources. According to the hosting provider, system and access logs are retained for 14 days.
The hosting provider processes this data on our behalf under its data processing addendum. The provider and the sub-processors it uses for cloud infrastructure and content delivery process data in the USA. Transfers to the USA are based on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses (Module Two, controller to processor) included in that addendum (Art. 46(2)(c) GDPR).
Contact by e-mail
If you write to us by e-mail, we process your e-mail address, your name if given, the content of your message and any files you attach, to answer your request. E-mail for support@noiseandgrit.com is handled in our own mailbox with Porkbun LLC under the same data processing addendum and standard contractual clauses described above. The legal basis is the performance of a contract or pre-contractual steps where your request relates to a purchase or product (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR), and otherwise our legitimate interest in answering enquiries (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
How long we keep correspondence and attached files is described under "Retention of support data" below.
Purchases
Software is sold through Lemon Squeezy, which acts as merchant of record; you are redirected to its checkout to buy. The seller of your purchase is the one identified in the checkout and in your order confirmation. Order, contact and payment data are processed there under Lemon Squeezy's own privacy information (Lemon Squeezy privacy policy). We receive the order and licence information needed to deliver the product and to support you, such as your name, e-mail address, the product, the order reference and the licence status. The legal basis is the performance of the contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) and legal retention obligations (Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR).
PatternBridge: licence activation and checks
At activation, PatternBridge sends the licence key and an activation name containing your computer name to the licensing service of Lemon Squeezy. Validation and deactivation send the licence key and the activation identifier. Every connection also discloses your IP address and technical connection data. The purchase e-mail address you enter in the app is compared locally with the purchase data returned by the licensing service. Licence and validation status are stored on your computer. Checks run automatically at startup and periodically during use whenever the licensing service is reachable.
The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR, as far as this is necessary to perform the contract. Preventing unauthorised use of licences is based on our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR), where it is not already necessary for the contract. Without the required licence data, protected functions cannot be enabled. Your music files are not analysed by the licensing service.
PatternBridge: update check
To check for updates, PatternBridge retrieves a public version file from noiseandgrit.com. No licence key, no purchase e-mail address and no separate device identifier are sent with this request. As with any page request, the hosting provider processes the IP address, the time of the request and technical request data (see "Hosting and server log files"). The version file contains version information only, not your personal licence data. The purpose is to inform you about available updates; the legal basis is our legitimate interest in maintaining the software (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Updates are not installed automatically.
PatternBridge: local diagnostics and support reports
PatternBridge keeps local diagnostic logs for troubleshooting. Running logs are deleted when the app is closed normally; remnants may remain after a crash. Support reports you have saved remain on your computer until you delete them.
A support report contains your description of the problem, technical system information, filtered logs and any problem files you select. Filtering does not guarantee complete anonymisation. Selected file contents are attached unchanged. If filenames collide, names in the report may be adjusted to distinguish the files. Please review the ZIP file and share only content you are allowed to share. Reports are never sent automatically: we receive the report and attached files only when you send them to us by e-mail. Please do not send passwords or complete licence keys.
For support requests related to a purchase, the legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR; otherwise it is our legitimate interest in answering enquiries and fixing errors (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Retention required by law is based on Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR.
Retention of support data
This applies to all e-mails sent to support@noiseandgrit.com and to files attached to them.
We delete submitted problem files after the enquiry is closed, no later than 30 days after closure. We delete other support correspondence no later than 12 months after closure. We may delete these data earlier. Statutory retention obligations and retention necessary to resolve specific legal claims remain unaffected. Order and licence data are retained separately according to their respective purposes. These periods concern support data we receive, not reports you save locally on your own computer.
Release news by e-mail
On product pages, on the Release news page and in a sign-up window that opens once on other pages, you can sign up to receive an e-mail when a product goes on sale and news about new NOISE & GRIT releases. When you submit the form, your e-mail address is sent to our mailing list provider Kit, Inc., USA, which stores the list and sends these e-mails on our behalf (Kit privacy policy). Kit also processes technical data of the sign-up and of the e-mails, such as your IP address, the time of sign-up and confirmation, and whether an e-mail was delivered or opened. Nothing is sent to Kit before you submit the form; the form on this website loads no scripts from Kit.
After signing up you receive an e-mail with a confirmation link; your address is only added to the list once you confirm it.
To avoid showing the sign-up window again, your browser stores your choice (closed or signed up) and the time of that choice in its local storage on your device. This entry contains no personal data, is not a cookie and is not sent to us or to anyone else. After closing, the window can appear again after 30 days. You can delete the entry at any time by clearing the site data in your browser.
Kit processes this data on our behalf under its data processing addendum. Transfers to the USA are based on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses included in that addendum or, where applicable, on the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework (Art. 45 and Art. 46(2)(c) GDPR).
The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can withdraw it at any time with the unsubscribe link in every e-mail or by writing to support@noiseandgrit.com. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of e-mails sent before. We keep your address on the list until you unsubscribe.
Retention of order and licence data
We retain licence data required for activation, device management and proof of entitlement for as long as the right of use continues and the data are necessary for those purposes. Prolonged inactivity alone does not cause deletion of an existing licence. We delete order copies and additional data that are no longer needed once their purpose ends, unless statutory retention obligations or specific legal claims require continued retention.
We generally retain our tax-relevant records and settlement documents for seven years after the end of the relevant calendar year, or longer where legally required. This does not apply indiscriminately to all customer or support data. The checkout seller's independent processing is governed by its own privacy information. Deletion by us does not automatically delete data held by that seller.
Site search
The search function runs entirely in your browser. Search terms are not sent to us or to anyone else and are not stored.
Your rights
You have the right to access the personal data we hold about you (Art. 15 GDPR), and to have it rectified (Art. 16), erased (Art. 17) or its processing restricted (Art. 18). You have the right to data portability (Art. 20) and the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21).
To exercise these rights, write to support@noiseandgrit.com.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. In Austria this is the Austrian Data Protection Authority (Datenschutzbehörde), Barichgasse 40-42, 1030 Vienna, www.dsb.gv.at.
Changes
This policy is updated whenever services are added or changed, in particular for checkout, payment, licensing, newsletters or embedded media. The current version is always available on this page.
